Sodium Chloride Injection, USP 0.9%, also known as Physiological saline, is a sterile, non-pyrogenic, aqueous solution of sodium chloride. It is indicated for administration to maintain fluid and electrolyte balance in clients. This isotonic preparation has a pH of approximately 6.5 to 7.5, and its osmolarity is approximately 290 milliosmoles per liter (mOsm/L).
Sodium Chloride Injection, USP 0.9%, can be administered IV into a vein, or under the skin. It is commonly used in medical settings for correcting dehydration, electrolyte imbalances, and diverse clinical situations.
Osmolar Solutions 20%
Mannitol Injection, USP 20%, is a sterile, non-pyrogenic solution of mannitol. It is administered intravenously to treat dehydration. The solution is hyperosmotic and exerts its effects by drawing fluids from the intracellular space into the vascular space. This elevates plasma osmolality, which in turn lowers edema formation.
- Frequently used for treating conditions such as: glaucoma, cerebral edema, and oliguria.
- Always make sure to the solution is stored in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
